#196 of 365~Four Months and Counting

Say "Hello" to our Alien baby, isn't that brain gorgeous!

How are we feeling?
Sitt'n at 17 weeks and feeling more like my normal self.  People have said that the second trimester is the "turn around," and I'm starting to think their right!  I have more energy-can get away from taking an afternoon nap, food isn't as big as an issue for me as it was a couple weeks ago, and I can still perform all the tasks that did before.  I'm also feeling a little relieved.  We went in for an appointment the other day to draw blood and check the heartbeat.  Our doc pulls out this little machine with a microphone and couldn't find a heartbeat-talk about a I wanna throw-up moment.  Nick kept saying, "God can be trusted, God can be trusted."  It took a couple minutes for them to get the ultrasound cart-enough to feel like ages-but they soon had it up and running and a strong heartbeat rang forth.  This kid is already giving me heart attacks!

What's up with the bump?
It's growing.  I swear, one morning I woke up and there was this little popped out belly.  At first I blamed it on food, but it's still there and my jeans are telling me it's time to go shopping.  I have yet to feel the kid move, but know I will probably miss it the first time around.  Looking forward to it though as it's still a little surreal to think this is really happening...

What crazy thing did you recently learn?
That everyone and I mean EVERYONE has an opinion/belief on how you should raise your child.  It makes me upset that Nick and I are being judged on something like parenting when we don't even have a kid yet!  That's why I LOVE this commercial-they hit everything that has come at us-breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, staying at home, working, disposable diapers, cloth diapers, fathers involvement, etc.  Just watch the clip and no, I did not cry after I watched this-something I'll probably be judged on later: http://www.scarymommy.com/that-time-i-cried-over-a-formula-commercial/

Subject I'm not ready to think about?
The nursery.  I believe in minimalistic children's rooms that THEY fill with things they love most in this world.  Nick wants something super constructive and fancy.  We finally agreed on a color, but that's about as far as we have gotten, as well as two new windows the hubs installed last weekend.  Hopefully, the nursery will be ready in five months...

Big Daddy's Take:
Trying to keep the wife healthy, safe, and regular about sums up my thoughts at this time. Of course there is disputes of baby names and baby bedroom motif, but we have a little while to figure that out. We don't even know the sex yet so why rush it. I do think I feel the kid when I put my hand on her belly, but Kassie doesn't even know when the kid moves yet so, she is reluctant to agree.
