#122 of 365~Buffalo Zoo and Lady Gaga

A trip to Buffalo isn't complete without a visit to their zoo.  While I'm super bias about Omaha's amazing caged-animal habitat's, I feel like each city that boasts of having a zoo should be respected with a visit.  My Great-Aunt Donna and her granddaughter/my cousin Jayla,  had a lovely time together saying "hello" to the animals and just being together.
Soon the clouds rolled in and a light rain began to fall. As we jumped into the van, Donna received a text from her friends-my new Buffalo fairy godmothers-asking if she wanted 2 free tickets to Lady Gaga's concert that night.  We both started freaking out and screaming and said "Yes!!!"  Now, I'm not the BIGGEST Lady G fan, but I wasn't going to pass up a chance to see an awesome performer and seriously talented singer! Lady Gaga's Art Rave was "a celebration and poetic musical journey" as well as an "exploration of the "reverse Warholian" phenomenon in pop culture."  Known for pushing the envelope, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself transported into a grown-up version of a Suess world complete with giant balloons and confetti flying all around.  The costumes were amazing and ever changing.
There were a couple moments that brought tears to my eyes-yes, I was crying at a Lady Gaga concert-like when she took time to read the letters that her fans through up at her and one happened to be from a young man with cancer who had been waiting to see her since his 2012 "Make a Wish" dream.  She pulled this fragile 16 year old with green hair and piercings, along with his sister who was sobbing, and sang/played "Born This Way" acapella.  She dedicated the song to Jamie-a 14 year old boy from Buffalo-who committed suicide after being bullied for being gay.  His family was there, Lady Gaga pointed them out, and got a bit choked up herself.  It was a heartbreakingly beautiful moment and I was once again reminded about the importance of loving our neighbors.
When the crying stopped, the crazy picked back up!  Once again their was a kaleidoscope of colors and costumes changes as the super athletic dancers moved across the stage.  Lady Gaga did not disappoint and closed her show with true Gaga style.  Paying tribute to the 80/90's Club Kids-a fad I do NOT want to see come back-her last song was full of four letter words, florescent black light get-ups, and vomiting pigs.  I left feeling quite disturbed, which I'm sure she intended it to be that way, but my aunt had me laughing and freaking out over the fact that we had just seen Lady Gaga-for free!!!
